Edward Allen Harris was born on the 28th November 1950 in Englewood, New Jersey to Margaret and Robert L. Harris. His first appearance is in the film, Borderline. He starred as the king of motorcycle riding renaissance fair troupe in Knightriders (1981). He starred as an astronaut called John Glenn in the film, The Right Stuff. He also starred as NASA flight director, Gene Kranz in the film, Apollo 13. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Apollo 13. He also had Oscar nominations for several movies including The Truman Show, Pollock and The Hours. He also starred in other movies including Enemy at the Gates (2001), A History of Violence (2005), Gone Baby Gone (2007), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), Riders of the Purple Sage (1996), Empire Falls (2005), Copying Beethoven and Game Change. He and his wife starred together in the drama Once Fallen in 2010. Besides acting, he also has director many theater productions.
