Wynton Marsalis mini bio:
Wynton L. Marsalis was born on 18th October 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received honorary degrees in many prestigous universities such as New York University, Princeton, University of Vermont and Yale. He also attended the Berkshire Music Center and Juilliard School of Music. He won 9 Grammy Awards for jazz and classical records. He focused on composing short and extended pieces of jazz music in the early 1990s. His first major work is At the Octoroon Balls. He also composed the music piece, Blood on the Fields. He won a Pulitzer Prize for Music Award for the composition, Blood on the Fields, oratorio. He was listed in the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1996. His other popular works include J. Mood (1987), Marsalis Standard Time – Volume I (1988), Think of One (1983), Hot House Flowers (1984), Black Codes (From the Underground) (1985) and Listen to the Storyteller (2000).
