Sidney L. Poitier

Sidney L. Poitier was born in 1927 in Florida, USA. He was born in a very poor family and from the starting he has to face racial discrimination. At the age of 15, he was sent to New York, where he again faced racism. But there was something different in him which made him t reach such heights. He gave his first audition in an American theatre where he was rejected. After this rejection he practiced for six months to bring change in his accent and body language. After so much hard work Sidney L. Poitier was selected for Broadway. After that he played the role of lead actor in No Way Out.

After this film, he got lots of appreciation from the audience and was able to build a large number of fans. He was also awarded with Oscar for his role in Lilies of the Field.
