Ernst Wilhelm Wenders was born on 14th Auguest 1945 in Dusseldorf, Germany. He stated his career as a filming director by directing the movie, Summer in the City (1970). Other more successful movies he had directed includee Paris, Texas, and Wings of Desire. The second feature film he directed is The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty, which was based on Handke's nocvel, The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick. He also directed music videos for popular music bands such as U2 and Talking Heads. He is one of the advisory board members inWorld Cinema Foundation. He is also a Jury member for Filmaka digital studio. He is currently working on a 3D documentary film about architecture. Wenders received the Best Director Bavarian Film Awards for Faraway, So Close!. He was awarded with the Golden Lion award for The State of Tings at the Venice Film Festival in 1982. He was also awarded with the Palme d'Or award for the movie, Paris, Texas at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.
