He is the son of Thomas William Black and Judith who worked in Hubble space.Both of them were rocket scientist. Jack is a musician, guitarist, voice artist, singer, actor, producer and also a comedian. He attended the University of California. King Kong, high fidelity, school or rock and shallow hal are some of the movies that have made him popular. He has also appeared on the X-files. Jacobhas been nominated for golden awards. He got into acting when he was thirteen years. He has played roles in television such as Mr. Show,life goes on and northern exposure. He was engaged to Tanya Haden in 2006.They got married on March 14, 2006. He has two sons, Samson Jason and Thomas David Black. High fidelity is the film that led him to stardom. He was one of the hosts for MTV movie awards in 2002.
