Yes as Gilbert the role of which Stephen Talbot got the most and best recognition for he was always getting Beaver into trouble but Beaver still would go around with him anyhow.The Best example of course is when he (Gilbert)set beaver up to wreck their Yearbook picture.But Luckily there was a way to resolve it using a peper bow to cover up the wrong that Beaver did having been set up by Gilbert when Gilbert claimed he was going to make a face too but didn't and only to have set Beaver up to do what he'd done too.
