Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born on January 26, 1958 in Metairie, Louisiana. She was is the daughter of Elizabeth Jane Pfeffer who is  a speech therapist and Elliott Everett DeGeneres who is  an insurance agent. She has a brother known as Vance and he is a musician and producer. She is of French, English, Irish and German descent. She has won thirteen Emmy Awards and numerous other awards for her work and charitable efforts.  She came out in publicly and admitted to being a lesbian on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She was a judge on American Idol in its ninth season. She is a stand-up comedian and TV host and actress. She has starred in Mr. Wrong, two sitcoms: Ellen and The Ellen Show and the Love Letter. She has been awarded the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. This is after the role she played being the voice of Dory.
